Early-stage ventures fighting drug resistant bacterial infections in the therapeutics or diagnostics area are invited to apply until 31 January 2022 for a pitch during the AMR Conference 2022 taking place from 7-8 April in the Congress Center in Basel, Switzerland.

10 finalists on stage

10 finalists will receive the opportunity to make a 5-minute-pitch in front of potential funders and investors during the start-up pitch session schedule for April 7. Investors, science and industry experts will be part of the jury and nominate the best pitch which will receive a prize.

INCATE is main partner of the competition

The start-up competition is supported by INCATE and further partners from the international AMR community. INCATE brings together translational and basic research, industry, experienced entrepreneurs and investors from across Europe to accelerate innovation in the AMR community. It particularly aims at bridging the gap between basic research and industrial implementation of new antibacterial treatment options by pooling resources and competences. The German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), the research association InfectControl in Germany, the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research AntiResist and the University of Basel are the academic founding members of INCATE. Together with the four pharma companies Boehringer Ingelheim, Roche, Shionogi and MSD as well as other organizations, funders and investors, they want to ensure that the pipeline of new antibiotics and diagnostics is filled and strengthened. Expert advice, building of a community supporting venture development and targeted funding are the three tools with which INCATE aims to achieve this goal. (More information at www.incate.net)

“The start-up competition provides an ideal opportunity to gain attention among relevant investors and funders”, says Helmut Kessmann, responsible for industry contacts at INCATE.

“The AMR Conference 2022 offers founders and young entrepreneurs a well-established platform to get connected with the international AMR community. Being on stage will boost visibility among potential supporters in industry and finance”, says Sandra Wirsching, AMR Conference program lead.
